Commissions

Bespoke creations

I welcome both public and private commissions

I have worked both on private and public commissions, ranging in size from small to monumental. I have the ability to design as well as create complex sculptural pieces and if needed can also mould large intricate sculptures, Man and Boy being one such example.

If you are interested in commissioning a piece of sculpture whether privately or for a public space and you have an initial idea, I can help you bring your project to life and take it through to completion from creating a design which appeals, to sculpting in clay and then having the piece turned into bronze. I am experienced in managing that later stage with the foundry to produce the finished piece.

Large commissions

Man and Boy

A life-size sculpture, Man and Boy stands on King’s Quay overlooking the inner harbour in Brixham. It was commissioned to mark lives lost at sea and the port’s fishing heritage.

Miranda

Miranda is a privately commissioned mermaid sculpture. She is situated on the west bank of the River Dart where she watches over the river and the turrets of Dartmouth Castle opposite.

Water Nymph

The Water Nymph is a life size sculpture commissioned for a private garden in Taunton. She is created in the style of a Naiad or Nereid, a classical Greek female spirit who presides over fountains, wells, springs, streams, brooks and other bodies of fresh water.

Portrait commissions

I have produced numerous portrait commissions, from busts to full figures. As a student studying I was approached by the BBC to produce a clay bust for the Television program Hartbeat. This led to an anniversary present, a head and shoulders bust of the couple’s young children and also a bust of prominent Bristol business man.

I aim to capture the character energy and feeling of any sitter which is why I prefer to work from life as this gives me the chance to really get to know the person who I am sculpting. I find this vitally important since to really capture a likeness you  also have to breathe the life and essence of that person into the portrait.

If you are interested in having a full figure portrait or a portrait bust of yourself or a close relative sculpted please do not hesitate to get in touch for more details.

I am happy to travel to discuss thoughts and ideas. The portrait would be tailor made to your wishes and not cast into bronze until you were very happy with the sculpted portrait.
